Aspahlt Shingles

In Alabama, asphalt shingles are the typical the most popular type of roof because they provide 20 years of a water tight seal at an affordable cost. In fact a large portion of residential roofs are actually asphalt shingles. You have 3 different types asphalt shingles for different weather and application. You have Fiberglass, Organ and Architectural shingles.

Fiberglass shingles are derived of a mix of asphalt and fiberglass itself. Fiberglass shingles tend to be more brittle overall but they carry a better fire rating. In an area where wild fires are an issue they can be of great use!

Organic shingles are comprised of cellulose, wood fivers, paper and asphalt. Organic shingles are much more durable than fiberglass but don't care the same fire rating. Ideal for areas that have a need for that type of durability.

Architectural shingles are named such because they add an architectural flare to a typically boring looking roof. They can be thicker in depth which requires a bit more money due to the extra material.

3-Tab shingles fit together like a puzzle. They end up with the same look, it is the actual install that sets them apart. Some say their higher price is justified by a lower labor cost.
